I've heard that this is the original teriyaki spot that introduced teriyaki to the Northwest decades ago. Make sure to visit this location on River Road--not the copycat one with the same name. I've been wanting to try Happy Teriyaki for a while, so my mom and I took my 3-year-old there for lunch, and we were beyond impressed. I was expecting your typical walk-up teriyaki joint, but this is far from that. It's a full sit-down restaurant with beautiful decor and a serene atmosphere. The highlight? A stunning koi pond in the middle of the dining area that created a peaceful vibe. My 3-year-old loved watching the fish, and the sweet server even brought him some fish food so he could feed them. Any restaurant that keeps a 3-year-old entertained is already winning in my book! The cleanliness and attention to detail were remarkable. I've been to countless teriyaki spots in Seattle and LA, and this was by far the cleanest and nicest I've ever experienced. Now, let's talk about the food. The portions are huge--like "how do they make money serving this much?" huge. We had leftovers for both dinner and lunch the next day. I ordered the spicy chicken teriyaki + tonkatsu combo, and my mom had the regular chicken teriyaki + tonkatsu combo. I also grabbed a to-go order for my husband, and he loved it just as much as we did. The food was flavorful, the portions were generous, and the atmosphere was top-notch. 10/10! I can't wait to go back.

Very friendly and food was great. Fried rice platter was everyone's favorite. Will be back!

Great food and friendly staff. Portions are very generous! Wife doesn't do gluten and their GF teriyaki chicken was great and only $1 more. Server brought extra of the GF sauce in a bottle for the rice as well without us asking. Highly recommend this spot, great place that we've dined in and taken out from multiple times over the past 15 years.

I've been eating here for 10+ years now and the food has stayed good. I would say this is my favorite teriyaki place just because I usually don't eat at teriyaki places. I also just get one thing from here. I usually get the spicy tonkatsu. They do only use chicken and not pork even though it's labeled TONkatsu, just a fair warning. The sauce they use is super flavorful and just very mildly spicy. It's nothing like the Chinese mala spicy or Indian spicy. It's just enough for a slight kick and tons of flavor. They also marinate chicken for it really well and it ends up moist and tender. I seriously only eat here for that specific dish. The portions are also very big. You can turn it into 2 decent sized meals or 3 normal portions. The price for it is also very affordable. I also do enjoy their fried rice when I'm feeling non Chinese fried rice. Their shrimp fried rice is my go to when I do crave it. Overall I think this is a solid choice for food and the service has always been nice. Staff are pleasant and helpful. The ambience is nice and quiet with a koi pond. I prefer my restaurants to be quiet and peaceful.

This is my favorite place to come for Teriyaki. I have been coming to this place since I was young teenager with my parents. Now I continue to come with my husband and children. The atmosphere and workers are always friendly. The flavor of the food tastes magnificent. I love the flavor of the chicken, cabbage and carrots.

This teriyaki spot has always been on my bookmarks, but I never really got a chance to go as my boyfriend, and I usually eat out late at night. However, since we live really close by and we're craving some good teriyaki, we decided to finally visit! I saw that the reviews were really high and loved that they had a koi pond inside that you can sit next to. The inside looked cozy and clean, the lighting was the perfect brightness for nice foodie pictures, and just overall a pleasant ambiance for a teriyaki joint. Speaking of, they had a good amount of dine in, to-go, and delivery orders throughout our visit. The kitchen staff were hard at work as you could hear the rhythm of kitchen utensils being used to cook up orders in a timely manner. Our waiter seemed like the only one running the front of the house with a waitress who was a cashier while also occasionally going around to drop off food or refilling water. You can seat yourself while you wait for someone to drop off a menu. We ended up ordering the shrimp basket and donburi. Our food arrived freshly cooked and tasted good! The portions were very generous and easily gave us leftovers. I also inquired if they still do the free frozen yogurt offer on Yelp and they do! That was also a pretty big serving despite being a small. But it was super refreshing after lunch. The service was great from both our servers! This is definitely going to be our teriyaki spot as we loved our visit here and can see why they have a great business (their story is on their website and menu)!

Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - Tonkatsu was juicy and tender. Not too heavy of a fry, which I appreciate, but still has the crispy/crunchy exterior. Simple dish but absolutely delicious and such a generous serving!! Yakisoba with beef reminded us of Chinese chow mien as the noodles were more soft in texture. The sauce they provided on the side added a lot of flavor with some soy sauce and sweet/tangy flavor Frozen yogurt is surprisingly good! It's a bit tart but very refreshing. Very generous with the serving size Ambience: N/A - ordered food to go. Simple but classy feel with fish tank at the entrance and a little fish pond in the middle Service: 5/5 - super friendly lady who greeted some customers by name. She was running the place by herself for a while but was still friendly and paid attention to each customer as much as she could. At one point while she was talking on the phone, the phone rang again while she was ringing out a customer and another asking for containers to go. But she was still friendly and just asked for a moment while she attended to each Value for price: 5/5 - highly recommend! Service was amazing, food was wonderful, and the price reasonable. The atmosphere was great and you can tell it's a favorite as the restaurant was busy constantly even at 4 PM
